Tafl: viking chess

A medieval Scandinavian strategy board game, similar to chess in its cultural significance. Played on boards of varying sizes—7x7, 9x9, 11x11, or 13x13—the game offers different win conditions, such as moving the king to the edge or a corner. Victory can also be achieved by trapping the king from two or four sides. Players control either the attacking black pieces or the defending white ones, with black moving first. Turns alternate as pieces move vertically or horizontally any number of spaces. Play against AI, a local opponent, or online multiplayer. Its blend of tactical depth and historical appeal makes it a compelling challenge.
